WHY THERE IS NO INVESTMENT LIKE COLLECTING AND INVESTING IN GUNS!
("Thank you so much! I printed this page out for my wife...")
NOTE: This information is provided for prospective Gunsmiths and FFL dealers. If you are buying and selling guns without a license due to the great investment potential, you NEED your FFL LICENSE to do so legally!
In the past 6 years, the S and P stocks have remained dead even. That means, adjusted for inflation and opportunity cost, you would have LOST more than 6% per year if you were in these stocks. In the last 10 years, the NASD stocks (hi-tech and growth) are DOWN more than 8%, and in some cases 30% or more per year. Some people have lost 100% of their investments here! The venerable Dow itself is also DOWN on average for the past 10 years.
What about real estate? In general houses have appreciated, but with transaction fees (buying or selling) the yield is only 1 to 2% per year on average for the last 7 years, and you can see by the many housing SLUMPS, mortgage crises, etc. that appreciation can be an illusion when you try to sell into a high inventory, or buyer's market. What about gold? Gold has ranged from $280 to over $900 an ounce in many of our lifetimes, and goes up in turbulent times (eg: terrorist attacks, rising oil prices). BUT, gold is hard to sell and keep. It takes a long time to get your money out quickly if you need it without paying a large fee. If you continually buy at 320 and sell at 800 you can profit over cycles on the "arbitrage" (basically trading), but this takes a ton of time and effort and a large amount of money at stake or on hold. It is VERY safe of course (as long as you hold it personally, and not in some paper "certificate").
That leads us to guns! Gun buyers have seen an average APPRECIATION in their investments of over 30% over the past 10 years. This may not seem like a lot, but when you consider that guns are virtually risk free, they are very easy to liquidate (sell), and they go WAY up in turbulent times (gun sales increased by 228% after 9/11) their safety and liquidity adjusted return ("beta" multiple) is over 50%! Just imagine you bought a Colt Anaconda .44 limited at the original issue price of $660. Today, these are going for over $1,800. Or, an HK Vietnam memorial rifle for $890 (auctioned only four years ago). Two went recently for over $2,000.
There are TWO SECRETS to buying and selling guns wisely and maximizing your return. 1. Buy close to wholesale when you get in (Click HERE to see how to do this with your Gunsmith License) 2. If you're going to sell and trade a lot, get your Home FFL now.
The bottom line: YOU CAN'T GO WRONG investing in guns, because everyone knows times are going to become MORE turbulent over the next 10 years! And if worse comes to worst, you can use your collection to protect your family, property, other investments, and even save or increase your food supply!
"My wife always says: WHY NOW?" To be honest, there is really no BAD time to invest in guns, unless planetary events make them unavailable. But there are BETTER times, and THIS IS ONE OF THEM! Why? Any investment, and all of life in fact, goes in cycles. The better your timing, the better you do. RIGHT NOW we are in a "NEW BANS" time where the Democrats and liberals are coming back into power. Those who bought grandfathered hi-caps, "assault" rifles (which they really aren't ;=)) and other items "banned" by crusaders that don't understand guns, did GREAT as they watched the value of their purchases skyrocket, often 300% in one year. The Dems are bad for our industry, but there is nothing "bad" in the investing world if your timing is right. Why NOT "use" them and their weird ideas about collapsible stocks, to PROFIT!!
Funny one of the day: "My wife says I only have 2 hands, why do I need 20 guns?" Answer: she only has two feet, why does she need 20 pairs of shoes? (thanks Mary for that one...)... So as not to be sexist, if you're a woman who loves guns, but your husband doesn't, email us. We have about a million members who would like to meet you, too...
Are you a gunsmith working on guns? If you sell or buy them, you may be doing so illegally! Check out the details HERE!
